19 MINUTES

Note: The Council stood in one minutes silence prior to the start of the meeting as a mark of their respects for Reverend John Joseph who sadly passed away on 28th June 2017. The Mayor made tribute Reverend Joseph’s services to the Council, as Mayor’s Chaplain, and to the community in general particularly through his work in presiding over the Remembrance Sunday services at Shaw’s Corner, Redhill for many years.

 

RESOLVED that the Minutes of the meeting of Council held on 25th May 2017 be approved as a correct record and signed.

21 DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST

22 URGENT BUSINESS (IF ANY)

23 RECOMMENDATIONS FROM THE EXECUTIVE

RESOLVED that:

 

(i) the Recommendation of the Executive (Minute 8) Acquisition of Freehold Redhill be adopted; and


(ii) the Recommendation of the Executive (Minute 9) amendment to capital programme be adopted.
 

24 MAYOR'S ANNOUNCEMENTS

The Mayor reported on the success of the Armed Forces Flag Raising Ceremony held on Monday 19 June 2017 at the Town Hall, Reigate.

 

The Mayor also informed the Council that:

 

• The first Business Event ‘A Celebration of Local Businesses’ was being held on Wednesday 5 July at the Town Hall, Reigate.

 

• The Mayor’s Volunteer Awards would be held on Friday 7 July at the Town Hall, Reigate.

 

• As part of the WWI Commemorative series of events there would be a showing of the 1962 film “Lawrence of Arabia” at the Harlequin Theatre on Sunday 23 July.

 

• A commemorative tree planting ceremony for The Battle of Passchendaele would take place in Nork Park Pinetum on Monday 31 July.
