Purpose:
Reigate & Banstead Borough Council has a
statutory obligation to supply and maintain an official street name
and premises name or number for every property in the Borough. This
enables a proper response by the emergency services, utility
companies and public services. It ensures that all residents and
property owners have a verifiable street name and premises name or
number for service provision and postal delivery. The
Council’s role of managing the authoritative Local Land &
Property Gazetteer (LLPG) is pivotal to the effective and efficient
operation of a range of public and private services.
Decision:
RESOLVED that:
(i) The existing Street Naming and Numbering Policy (dated October 2016) be revoked.
(ii) The revised Street Naming and Numbering Policy, set out in Annex 1 to the report presented, be adopted.
(iii) The delegation, set out in the Council’s Constitution under Part 3b: Officer Scheme of Delegation (paragraphs 8.13, 8.14 and 8.15), with reference to street naming and numbering be reaffirmed to the relevant Head of Service.
