Heritage Open Day coincided with several Mayoral engagements, including the Longcroft Clinic Park Run, the opening of the Horley Café in the Park and the newly refurbished tennis courts, the Preston Park Community Event, the Merstham Community Facility Trust Community Event, a rugby match at Old Reigations, the Banstead District Scouts AGM and the Live from Lockdown Event at the Harlequin.

Reigate & Banstead Volunteer Awards

The annual Reigate & Banstead Volunteer Awards on Tuesday 21 September recognised over 40 volunteers for their efforts to support the community at the Harlequin Theatre.

Individuals and groups were nominated in five different awards categories: Young Volunteer, Individual Volunteer, Crisis Response, Individual Trustee, and the Team award.

The new Peter Harrison Award was created in memory of the late Sir Peter Harrison CBE who established an independent grant making trust supporting voluntary and community organisations in the UK.

The Foundation agreed to support the Volunteer Awards for 5 years and the first recipient of the award was Lt (SCC) Peter Bishop, of the Reigate Sea Cadets, who was commended for his lifelong commitment to helping others and supporting his young Cadets throughout lockdown.

The Mayor thanked all those that were involved in the event, including Voluntary Action, Reigate & Banstead, the Harlequin, and the Refugee Support team.

Remembrance Sunday services

The Mayor announced that planning was underway for Remembrance Sunday commemorations in Redhill, Horley and Banstead.
