To appoint a Chair for Municpal Year 2020/21.

RESOLVED that Councillor Simon Rickman be appointed as Chairman for the municipal year 2020/21.

To appoint a Vice-Chair for the Municipal Year 2020/21.

RESOLVED that Councillor Nick Harrison be appointed as Vice-Chairman for the municipal year 2020/21.

To approve the minutes of the last meeting of the Committee.

RESOLVED that the minutes of the previous meeting of the Committee held on 6 June 2019 be confirmed and signed as a correct record.

To consider any item(s) which, in the opinion of the Chair, should be considered as a matter of urgency – Local Government Act 1972, Section 100B (4) (b).

Members made reference to a recent meeting of an assessment panel and asked the Head of Legal and Governance if information in relation to the panel could be made available to the Committee. The Head of Legal and Governance confirmed that an annual report would be forthcoming from the Monitoring Officer and made available for consideration by the Committee at a future meeting.

Members also noted the minute from the meeting held on 6 June 2019 in relation to the improvement of the transparency of those complaints not brought to Standards, a review of the Code of Conduct and the terms of reference for the Standards Committee.

RESOLVED that:

i)                 The Committee note that a review of the Code of Conduct had been undertaken by the Governance Task Group in 2019/20

ii)               The Committee review its terms of reference, methods of improving transparency of complaints not brought to the Committee, and the operating processes of the Committee.
