Appointments to Committees
A review of the allocation of committee seats was undertaken in
accordance with Section 15 (1) of the Local Government and Housing
Act 1989 following recent changes in political balance. The review
concluded that the Conservative Group were entitled to an
additional seat on the Employment Committee. The Group Leader for
the Conservative Group has notified the Proper Officer of the name
of the member to fill this seat. The Officer Scheme of Delegation
provides authority for such changes to be enacted.

At the meeting of the Council on 10 December
2020, Members unanimously approved a report to posthumously
recognise the contributions made by former Councillors Spiers and
Stead (resolution 52):
RESOLVED that subject to all and any statutory checks and
notifications:
1. The walkway along Waterhouse Lane toward Kingswood Village Hall
be so named ‘Spiers Walk’ in posthumous recognition of
former Councillor Joan Spiers.
2. The outdoor gym and refurbished playground in Nork Park be named
in posthumous recognition of former Councillor Brian Stead.
Consequently, it is necessary for an enabling exemption to be
granted by the Leader of the Council, to the street naming and
numbering policy.

Numbering Policy be granted in order to satisfy the Council’s
resolution of 10 December 2020, in posthumous recognition of former
Councillors Spiers and Stead.
