We the undersigned petition the council to Reverse their decision to charge for replacement wheelie bins that have been damaged due to a) general wear and tear b) mis-use by the rubbish collection teams

A well kept hidden secret by Reigate and Banstead Council to charge for replacement wheelie bins.
Why should we have to pay for replacement bins when no other local council does

Council response

In accordance with the Council Petition Scheme, please see the response from the Executive Member for Neighbourhood Services below:

In response to the above petition, I can confirm that when the council introduced the recycling service across the borough in 2012 charges for replacement wheelie bins were introduced. We advertise the cost of replacement bins on our website at the following link https://www.reigate-banstead.gov.uk/info/20062/recycling_and_refuse/392/fees_for_recycling_and_refuse_services, We do not charge for replacement food bins or paper boxes and can confirm that bins damaged or removed by the crews in the course of their duties, are also replaced FOC.

The council considers a fee of £30 for a replacement wheelie bin to be a fair & reasonable charge.
