Chain Pond's first mention in the History books was in 1886 ,
this pond is not only historic but Iconic throughout the local area
, for many of us we have seen it deteriorate for years especially
the water level . Since last October we have had a lot of rain and
yet now mid August we are all seeing our Moorhen family just wading
through mud , with just a little water left . Our Amphibians have
become virtually non existent around the area due to the lack of
water, much of our Wildlife relies on the Pond for an important
water source .
We have lost many Ponds in the borough over the years or they have
simply dried up . We desperately need more Ponds and those that we
do have should be maintained and kept healthy for the sake of our
Wildlife .
