26 | The Committee considered a report on discretionary additional payments (through enhanced basic redundancy pay and/or augmentation of pensionable service) to seven staff whose employment with the Council had been terminated due to redundancy.
The report set out background information, relevant factors for consideration, the regulatory framework, options, resource implications and conclusions. The report had appended to it the current Compensation and Early Retirement Policy (approved by the Executive in November 2006), an illustrative guide to compensation following redundancy/early retirement and a schedule of the financial effects of each of the seven cases before the Committee.
Written representations had been submitted in respect of four of the seven cases (Post Nos. 2425, 2340, 3305 and 4370) and details had been circulated, prior to the meeting but independent of the agenda, to all Members of the Committee including the substitute Member in attendance. Of these four, two employees (Post Nos. 2425 and 3305) attended the Committee meeting to present their case and answer questions by Members.
