RESOLVED that the Press and public be excluded from the meeting for the following items of business under Section 100A(4) of the Local Government Act 1972 on the grounds that:

(i) they involved the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in paragraph 1 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Act; and

(ii) the public interest in maintaining the exemption outweighed the public interest in disclosing the information.

36 BACKGROUND INFORMATION ON THE POST
 
37 HEAD OF POLICY AND REGENERATION: APPOINTMENT
RESOLVED that:

(i) the post of Head of Policy and Regeneration be offered to Applicant 440097, subject to a further meeting with the Director of Development and the Executive Member for Planning, Transport and Housing; and

(ii) subject to acceptance she be appointed to the post.
The meeting closed at 12.54 p.m.

36The Director of Development outlined the information in the confidential papers and the application process to date as well as the priority areas the post was likely to focus on. Members of the Committee were given the opportunity to ask the Director and the Head of Personnel and Support Services any questions relating to the application packs and test results.
37The Committee interviewed three candidates for the post of Head of Policy and Regeneration. As part of the interviews the candidates each gave a presentation and were then asked pre-determined questions. Confidential papers relating to the applicants had been circulated separately to Members of the Committee only, together with the Director of Development, the Chief Executive and the Head of Personnel and Support Services. At the end of the interviews each candidate was given the opportunity to ask the Committee questions.
