1 CONSENT FOR THE MAYOR TO TAKE THE CHAIR
RESOLVED that, in accordance with Committee Procedure Rule 11.2 consent be given for the Mayor to take the Chair for the next items of business (Election of Chairman and Vice-Chairman).
2 ELECTION OF CHAIRMAN
RESOLVED that Councillor J.M. Ellacott be elected Chairman of the Committee for the Municipal Year 2012/13.
3 ELECTION OF VICE-CHAIRMAN
RESOLVED that Councillor Mrs D.A. Ross-Tomlin be elected Vice-Chairman of the Committee for the Municipal Year 2012/13.
4 MINUTES
RESOLVED that the Minutes of the meeting held on 22nd July 2010 be approved as a correct record and signed.

8 EXEMPT BUSINESS
RESOLVED that the Press and public be excluded from the meeting for Minute 7 under Section 100A(4) of the Local Government Act 1972 on the grounds that:
(i) it involved the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in paragraph 1 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Act; and
(ii) the public interest in maintaining the exemption outweighed the public interest in disclosing the information.

9 APPLICATION FOR EARLY RETIREMENT

To consider a request for early retirement.

RESOLVED that under the Local Government Pension Scheme 85 year retirement rule (based on age and service combined) the Waste and Recycling Operations Manager be granted early retirement with effect from 31st August 2012 on the grounds of the efficiency of the service.

9The Committee received a report on an application by the Waste and Recycling Operations Manager for early retirement. The report set out relevant statutory powers, detailed background information, options and financial and equalities implications, consultation undertaken and policy framework considerations. A schedule showing benefits and costs associated with the application was appended to the report. A number of questions were asked.
