The Mayor had presented Alderman Waller with a Tatton Winter print to mark the occasion in recognition of his contribution to the Borough as a whole.

• That this year's Heritage Open Day, held on Saturday 13 September, had been a great success. The Town Hall had been open to the community and over 180 visitors were welcomed. On display had been a range of historic artefacts, as well as an excellent exhibition to mark the centenary of World War One. Proceeds from sales of postcards and refreshments, kindly provided by Councillors Mantle and Mrs Bray, were donated to the Mayor's charities. Copies of the postcards, which depict the treasures of the Town Hall, could be purchased from the Mayor's Office.

• That a charity coffee morning in aid of Parkinson's UK, one of the Mayor's chosen charities, would be held in the Old Council Chamber on 12th November. Invitations were being sent out.

• That the next week was Local Democracy Week, and as part of this the Council would welcome politics students from Reigate College to participate in a voting system comparison exercise. Students from four of the local secondary schools would also attend the Reigate & Banstead Question Time, chaired by Nicholas Owen. The next day, a series of ‘carousel' talks would be given to students at East Surrey College, where an exhibition about democratic engagement would also be displayed.

• Remembrance Day was coming up on Sunday 9th November, and the Mayor reminded Members that this was a very important civic occasion. The Mayor would be attending the service at Shaw's Corner, Redhill, and the Deputy Mayor would be in Banstead. The Mayor would also be attending the Remembrance Day Service, with 2 minutes silence, at 11am on 11 November in the Belfry, Redhill.

• The Mayor was pleased to see Councillor M.J. Selby, who had been unwell, present at the meeting. The Mayor invited all Members to join with him in wishing Councillor Selby a full and speedy recovery.
