Appointment of an Independent Member of the Audit Committee Pursuant to Minute 10 of the Annual Meeting of the Council on Thursday 27 May 2021 and Part 3a, and in line with general provision for Committees in the Local Government Act 1972 Section 102, a recruitment process for an Independent Member of the Audit Committee took place in August and September 2021.
RECOMMENDED that Robert Coyle be appointed as the Independent Member of the Audit Committee for a four-year period (until September 2025) in accordance with the terms stipulated in the role profile agreed by Council on 27 May 2021. Mayor's announcements To receive any announcements from the Mayor. Additional documents: Minutes: Heritage Open Day The Mayor gave thanks to all those who attended Heritage Open Day. Group tours of the building were led by Macebearer Paul Danbury, which gave guests a history of the Town Hall and its many past uses. Heritage Open Day coincided with several Mayoral engagements, including the Longcroft Clinic Park Run, the opening of the Horley Café in the Park and the newly refurbished tennis courts, the Preston Park Community Event, the Merstham Community Facility Trust Community Event, a rugby match at Old Reigations, the Banstead District Scouts AGM and the Live from Lockdown Event at the Harlequin. Reigate & Banstead Volunteer Awards The annual Reigate & Banstead Volunteer Awards on Tuesday 21 September recognised over 40 volunteers for their efforts to support the community at the Harlequin Theatre. Individuals and groups were nominated in five different awards categories: Young Volunteer, Individual Volunteer, Crisis Response, Individual Trustee, and the Team award. The new Peter Harrison Award was created in memory of the late Sir Peter Harrison CBE who established an independent grant making trust supporting voluntary and community organisations in the UK. The Foundation agreed to support the Volunteer Awards for 5 years and the first recipient of the award was Lt (SCC) Peter Bishop, of the Reigate Sea Cadets, who was commended for his lifelong commitment to helping others and supporting his young Cadets throughout lockdown. The Mayor thanked all those that were involved in the event, including Voluntary Action, Reigate & Banstead, the Harlequin, and the Refugee Support team. Remembrance Sunday services The Mayor announced that planning was underway for Remembrance Sunday commemorations in Redhill, Horley and Banstead. Mayor’s Charities The Mayor promoted a Quiz Night event on Friday 26th November at the YMCA. |
