Changes to committee appointments

The Council has a statutory duty to make committee appointments according to each political group’s wishes. The political balance arrangements were agreed at Annual Council on 23 May 2024.

The Monitoring Officer has received notification from the Green Group requesting changes to the committee appointments allocated to their group.

In addition, a vacancy has arisen in one seat on the Planning Committee, formerly held by Councillor Newton (Conservative).

The Monitoring Officer has received nominations from both the Conservative and Green political groups relating to these changes, and it is therefore recommended for the Council to appoint:

i.             Councillor Green to the vacant Conservative seat on the Planning Committee.

ii.            Councillor Boghani, to replace Councillor Ritter on the Overview and Scrutiny Committee; and,

iii.          Councillor Ritter, to replace Councillor Boghani on the Employment Committee.
